It’s World Bee Day!!
Shout out to the important pollinators of trees, flowers & our food.
There is nothing better on a warm Spring day than the buzz of bees in the garden.
A FEW FACTS ON BEES
π Honeybees live in matriarchal societies.
π Honeybees and bumblebees are the only bees that make colonies
π Male bees canβt sting you, though they are mostly around the hive if they are a bee that lives in colonies
π Worker bees are basically nonbinary or intersex because they donβt actually have any genitals that mark them as male or female-Β their stingers are modified ovipositors. The queen is the only reproductive female.
As you can see, it is very important for us to protect these VIP pollinators.
HERE ARE A FEW REASONS WHY WE LOVE BEES!!
π They are cute and come in many pretty colours.
π They make buzzing sounds
π They give us honey, royal jelly, beeswax and more.
π They help maintain biodiversity.
π They increase food production and food security.
π They are simply the bees knees!! Geddit?
So, in answer to the question: “To π Or Not To π”, the answer is and always should be To π
Save the bees, folks. They are our friends.
In honour of World Bee Day, here are a few of my favourite bee finds.
